Aldi has once again been named as the UK’s cheapest supermarket in a new independent price comparison survey by trade magazine The Grocer*.
The study on a basket of 33 everyday items revealed Morrisons to be the most expensive Big Four retailer with a basket that was 18% (£9.86) more expensive than Aldi, whose basket cost a total of just £54.89.
In addition, the same products cost £18.36 more at the most expensive supermarket Waitrose (£73.25)
Julie Ashfield, Managing Director of Buying at Aldi, said: “For all the talk about promotions, the reality is that when it comes to price, nobody can match Aldi. We’ve always promised our customers that we will never be beaten on price and, yet again, this survey confirms it.”
Aldi is the fourth-largest supermarket in the UK, and consumer champion Which? has named Aldi as the UK’s cheapest supermarket for each of the past three years, and for every month so far this year.
