Shoppers are reaching for their festive treats even earlier this year as the nights draw in and the temperature drops, according to Aldi.
The UK’s fourth-largest supermarket has reported a staggering 170% surge in sales of Mulled Wine and Flavour Mulled Wine year-on-year, with Aldi’s entire seasonal range experiencing 20% year-on-year growth.
Other notable increases reported by the UK’s cheapest supermarket include chocolate and confectionary sales, rising by over 40%, with sales of its Specially Selected Cocoa Dusted Truffles up 190% year-on-year.
Meanwhile, Aldi says it also saw a bumper Halloween this year with sales up over 20%, as Brits enjoyed the spooky season by embracing Halloween themed decorations and toys such as its Halloween Squishees.
Aldi is officially the go-to destination for Christmas this year, as the discount supermarket has been named as Christmas Retailer of the Year by the Quality Food Awards, as well as ‘Best Overall Grocer’ at the prestigious Good Housekeeping Institute Christmas Taste Test 2024.
The annual Good Housekeeping taste test, which tests 730 products from more than 97 brands, also crowned Aldi’s mince pies, turkey and champagne as best-in-class in their categories.

“From mains and sweet treats to staples like mulled wine – we’ve got every course covered with our seasonal range this year. We might not be able to fix the news, but shoppers can count on Aldi to make Christmas amazing without breaking the bank.”
Aldi has been named October’s cheapest supermarket by consumer champion Which?, taking home the accolade for the 12th consecutive month.
