ALDI REASSURES MARMITE LOVERS THAT STOCK OF ITS MIGHTY YEAST EXTRACT ARE STRONG, AS REPORTS SHOW THAT SUPERMARKETS ARE RUNNING LOW ON MARMITE

Fans of the love-or-hate it spread, Marmite, can breathe a sigh of relief as supermarket Aldi is spreading the news that its Grandessa Mighty Yeast Extract (£1.69, 240g) is in strong supply and available in all stores.

Whilst it’s good news for lovers of the popular yeast extract spread that breweries have opened up, reports suggest it could be months before production returns to normal. At yeast Aldi is on hand with its own label alternative to kerb any cravings.

The Marmite shortage, which has seen many of the over one million Marmite fans taking to social media to share their shortage woes, is due to a scarcity of brewer’s yeast (used to make beer). With pubs closed during lockdown, less beer has been made in recent months, impacting this crucial ingredient. Luckily, Grandessa has ensured enough for its spread.

Aldi also stocks Marmite Yeast Extract (£2.49, 250g) in stores too, so shoppers may be lucky to bag both if they’re quick!
