Following its sell-out success last year, Aldi announces the return of its Bottomless Pigs in Blankets Restaurant. The legendary restaurant, which dished out over 10,000 pigs in blankets to hundreds of visitors last year, will re-open its doors on Bethnal Green Road in Shoreditch, 29th to 30th November.
The news comes as consumer group Which? named Aldi the “Best Place to Buy Pigs in Blankets” this Christmas, scoring the supermarket 79/100, higher than competitors including Tesco (67/100), Sainsbury’s (70/100).
Research by the supermarket reveals Brits are predicted to consume a staggering 668 million pigs in blankets this Christmas, averaging 11.2 per person.
Londoners lead the charge and are set to enjoy 13.7 pigs in blankets each this Christmas, compared to Bristol’s eight, making the restaurant’s return perfectly located.
This year, Aldi’s Pigs in Blankets Restaurant offering is set to be bigger and better, featuring new creations from the supermarket such as the world’s first Footlong Vegan Pig in Blanket, a Pig in Blanket Roulette, and even Loaded Yorkshire Sliders.
Guests will have the chance to pig out on six succulent courses of the festive favourite, plus a bottomless supply of classic Pigs in Blankets and a welcome drink for just £5, with all proceeds going to Neighbourly.
The supermarket has unveiled a sneak peak of the restaurant’s menu – from traditional to innovative, there’s a pig in blanket for every palate:
If that’s not enough, diners can fill their boots on a bottomless supply of fan favourite Specially Selected Pigs in Blankets.
Aldi also has veggies and vegans covered with a supermarket-first, the NEW Plant Menu Ultimate Footlong Vegan Pig in Blanket. Made with taste approved[2] Ultimate No Pork Sausage wrapped in smoky vegan bacon, this supersized treat will be served alongside a bottomless supply of Aldi’s Plant Menu Ultimate Vegan Pigs in Blankets.
Julie Ashfield, Managing Director of Buying at Aldi UK, says: “Customers went wild for our Pigs in Blankets Restaurant last year, so we knew we had to bring it back. The humble pig in blanket is the King of the Christmas dinner spread – the irresistible combination of savoury sausage and crispy bacon creates a blend of flavours and textures that is hard to resist.
“Whether taking on a game of chance with our Pig in Blanket Roulette, or indulging in a Vegan Footlong Pig in Blanket, we can’t wait for shoppers to experience everything we have to offer this Christmas.”
Aldi reveals the UK’s top pig in blanket-loving cities (based on average consumption per person over Christmas):
Last year the supermarket sold more than 42 million pigs in blankets – and it looks like the popularity of this Christmas side dish is holding firm, as it’s predicted Aldi will sell a record-breaking 46 million this year.
The restaurant will be open from Friday 29th November – Saturday 30th November, 12:30 to 20:30.
Aldi’s Christmas Pigs in Blankets range is available in stores from 27th November.
