ALDI RETURNS HAYSMITH’S BLOOD ORANGE GIN THAT IS 43% CHEAPER THAN MALFY[1]

No tricks, just treats at Aldi this Halloween! Back by popular demand, the supermarket is getting shoppers in the spooky spirit with the return of its Haysmith’s Blood Orange Gin (70cl, £16.99), available from 11th September. 

Made with a selection of ripe blood oranges and blended with the finest botanicals, this tasty tipple is devilishly delicious and bursting with rich citrus flavours.

Whether hosting a party or planning a quiet night in with a scary movie, it’s an ideal accompaniment for a spooktacular evening. Simply serve with tonic and plenty of ice or create a crowd-pleasing Halloween cocktail! 

What’s more, shoppers can save a whopping 43% compared to alternative gin brand, Malfy. Spooktacular savings indeed!

For those wanting to take festive parties to new frights, budding mixologists can try their hand at shaking up this spirited Blood Orange Drac-uiri recipe:

Blood Orange Drac-uiri

Ingredients

  • 200g Strawberries
  • 200g Raspberries
  • Ice Cubes
  • 2 Limes
  • 100ml Blood Orange Gin

Method

  1. Zest the limes and keep to one side
  2. Put the strawberries and raspberries in a blender and add the ice and juice of the limes
  3. Blend until a smooth slushy-like consistency
  4. Add the gin
  5. Serve in ice cold glasses and decorate with lime zest curls

Red Devil Cocktail:

Ingredients:

  • 90ml White Rum
  • 90ml Vodka
  • 140ml Cranberry Juice
  • 140ml Tropical Juice
  • 2 tbsp Lime Juice
  • ½ tsp Red Chilli Flakes, crushed
  • 2-3 drops Red Food Colouring

Garnish:

  • 4 Red Chillies
  • 2 tbsp Strawberry Sauce
  • ½ tsp Red Chilli Flakes, crushed

Method:

  1. Garnish the Martini glasses with the 2 red chilies to form Devil horns.
  2. Place all the ingredients for the drink into a cocktail shaker with ice and shake for 30 seconds.
  3. Pour through a strainer into the Martini glasses and sprinkle the extra chili flakes on top.
  4. Drizzle the strawberry sauce around the rim of the glass as drops of blood and serve.

Spooky White Russian:

Ingredients:

  • 90ml Vodka
  • 90ml Ballycastle Chocolate, Caramel & Hazelnut Cream
  • 90ml Double Cream
  • 2 tbsp Toffee Sauce
  • 2-3 Drops Orange Food Colouring
  • Pinch of Ground Cinnamon
  • Pinch of Ground Ginger

Garnish:

  • 140ml Double Cream
  • 1 tsp Caster Sugar
  • 2 Caramelised Biscuits
  • 4 tbsp Toffee Sauce
  • 6 Chocolate Chips

Method:

  1. Whip the double cream and caster sugar together until thickened and crush the caramelised biscuit to form crumbs.
  2. Dip the rim of 2 short glasses into the caramel sauce and then the crumbs.
  3. Place all the ingredients for the drink into a cocktail shaker, with ice and shake for 30 seconds. Pour through a strainer into the glasses.
  4. Top with a dollop of the whipped cream to resemble a ghost, add chocolate chip eyes, then serve.

Slimeade:

Ingredients:

  • 100ml White Rum
  • 1 litre Lemonade
  • 2 Limes
  • 4 Kiwi Fruit

Method:

  1. Add 100 ml of rum.
  2. Juice the limes and add to the lemonade.
  3. Slice the kiwis and scoop out the flesh. Blend the kiwi fruit and add to the lemonade.
